Learning Disability Nurses  

Learning Disability Nurses support people with learning disabilities to maintain their health and wellbeing within a broader social context. They assist individuals of all ages to live their lives as fully and independently as possible while respecting their rights and dignity. 

Learning disability nurses work with service users and patients, and their families and carers to assess their needs and draw up care plans, monitoring the implementation of recommendations. They work in multidisciplinary teams with other nurses and health and social welfare professionals to help people with learning disabilities cope with basic living skills and social activities to ensure they lead healthy and fulfilling life.

What you could potentially earn?  

Learning disability nurses can expect an average salary with a starter nurse earning £25,654 and an experienced nurse up to £31,533. You will be expected to work up to 38 hours per week. Candidates could work evenings, on weekends, or on bank holidays.  

You will support people to improve or maintain their physical and mental health. You would help them to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

  • Assist them with their journeys on public transport 

  • Attend shopping trips  

  • Provide assistance with finding a job 

  • Support them with social issues
